The new year kicked off with a bang as Mzansi’s A-listers stepped into the Deal or No Deal Celebrity hot seat, all in support of worthy causes. Proudly sponsored by LottoStar, this January edition was filled with excitement, emotion and generosity.

Here’s how much our celebrities raised:

  • Dineo Ranaka, the reality show star and DJ, played for Frida Hartley, a women’s and children’s shelter in Yeoville. The shelter provides a safe haven for homeless women overcoming neglect, trauma, and abuse. Dineo secured R8,200, which will help provide meals and toiletries. When the banker made a low offer, she fiercely responded, “Women and children are worth more!”.
  • DJ Sbu brought his vibrant energy and vibes to the stage, playing for Kids Haven, an orphanage supporting vulnerable children. Sbu clinched R15,050 and generously matched the amount, boosting the donation to R30,000. His compassion will go a long way for the organisation.
  • Kayise Ngqula, media personality and dedicated mother, took the hot seat to raise funds for Autism South Africa, a cause close to her heart as her son is autistic. Autism South Africa plays a vital role in advocating for the rights of autistic individuals, providing support to families and promoting inclusive education and awareness across the country. Despite only winning R250, her emotional journey brought much-needed attention to the organization’s invaluable work and the challenges faced by the autism community.
  • ProVerb, rapper and TV host, showcased his strategic skills as he battled the banker for the Imbumba Foundation. Starting with a modest R1 deal, he negotiated his way to an impressive R50,050 - the highest amount raised on Deal or No Deal Celebrity this month! The Imbumba Foundation focuses on uplifting communities through initiatives such as providing sanitary packs for young girls, providing access to education for underprivileged youth and promoting sustainable development. ProVerb’s win is a significant boost to their impactful work.
