Alex Robertson had his brand new car smashed with a hammer after he decided not to share his EuroMillions £3.1 Million (over R60 Million) winnings with his two adult sons.

Alex is part of the 12 bus drivers syndicate that luckily scooped €45 Million (over R900 Million) EuroMillions prize in 2012. Each driver walked away with €3,1 Million (over R60 Million) and quit their jobs to live off of their winnings.

However, the life-changing winnings soon became a nightmare for Alex, a father of two, when his sons claimed that he refused to share his winnings with them. According to the sons, their father just gave them 200 cigarettes.

The sons were so furious that they took matters into their own hands.

"We ended up taking hammers to his two new 4x4. We walked up his driveway at 11 p.m. and put two claw hammers through the windows of the car. We then reported ourselves to the police."

Alex told the newspaper at the time that, "This lottery win was the worst thing that ever happened to us — it ripped our family apart”.

The sons were charged with harassment and were due to stand trial. However, the case was thrown out of court when Alex couldn’t provide sufficient evidence in time because he had moved to Spain.

It just shows how messy money matters can be among loved ones.
